M109, or Messier 109, is a member of a group of roughly
80 galaxies known as the Ursa Major Galaxy Cluster and located within the
constellation Ursa Major. M109 is a barred spiral galaxy and is home to about
one trillion stars. The galaxy is approximately 60 million light-years away from
the Earth.
